Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious
Saw Operator to join our fabrication team in Springfield, Ohio. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating a
Hyd-Mech saw machine to cut parts efficiently while maintaining strict quality standards. This position requires strong material handling skills, precision measurement capabilities, and the ability to interpret technical prints. Training will be provided on the 1st shift before transitioning to the permanent 2nd-shift schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Saw Operation: Set up, adjust, and operate the Hyd-Mech saw machine to cut raw materials safely and productively.
- Material Handling: Safely operate a forklift and overhead crane to move, load, and unload heavy parts and raw stock.
- Quality Control: Use calipers, levels, angle finders, and tape measures to verify part dimensions; identify if parts are cut to length, out of square, out of level, or twisted and require a recut.
- Pre-Production Prep: Utilize industrial grinders to deburr and prepare parts prior to or following the cutting process.
- Blueprint Reading & Diagnostics: Read and interpret technical blueprints; evaluate production documents to ensure the work order, print, and road map match, and escalate any discrepancies directly to the supervisor.
- Computer & Administrative Tasks: Utilize standard computer skills for work order scanning and data entry into production spreadsheets.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Technical Skills: Basic mathematical knowledge and proven proficiency using precision measurement layout tools.
- Equipment Experience: Prior experience or strong aptitude to operate saw machinery, forklifts, overhead cranes, and grinders.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to spot quality defects and document production steps accurately.
- Reliability: Consistent daily attendance and a commitment to working safely in a heavy industrial environment.
