Job Purpose: Ensures the serviceability of transport trailers by conducting inspections and performing repairs.

Duties:

  • Ensures transport trailers are available for use by conducting regular inspections and diagnostic tests, as well as performing preventive maintenance, including tire rotations and changes, wheel balancing, and component replacements.
  • Maintains transport trailer functionality by reviewing shop orders, addressing operator complaints, diagnosing and repairing failures, and removing, replacing, assembling, and installing parts and components, such as sheet metal, frames, suspension, electrical systems, hydraulics, braking systems, heating and refrigeration units, axles, hubs, tires, wheels, and coupling units.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations by conducting tests according to required standards and making necessary corrections and adjustments.
  • Preserves the appearance of transport trailers by cleaning, washing, and painting.
  • Maintains accurate records by documenting service and repairs performed on each trailer.
  • Ensures proper operation of shop equipment by calibrating electrical test equipment, following operating procedures, troubleshooting issues, maintaining inventory, and performing preventive maintenance, as well as requesting repairs when necessary.
  • Controls costs by conserving the use of equipment and supplies.
  • Keeps inventory well-stocked by tracking supplies, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
