We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Burn Operator to set up and operate our production CNC burn machinery. In this role, you will be responsible for producing high-quality metal parts safely, productively, and efficiently. The ideal candidate possesses strong spatial math skills, intermediate computer literacy, and the ability to optimize raw material usage through manual nesting techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Program, set up, and operate the CNC burn table to precisely cut parts according to strict work orders and production specifications.
- Quality Assurance: Utilize precision tools including calipers, levels, and squares to measure parts; secure a "new part approval" before running full production orders.
- Manual Nesting: Manually nest parts efficiently on plates without relying on Columbus nesting software to maximize material utilization and minimize overall burn times.
- Equipment Maintenance: Keep the machine and torches perfectly clean; adjust cutting parameters per order; clean and repair torch tips and associated consumables as needed.
- Material Inspection: Verify plate thickness, material grades, and cross-reference Heat Numbers from stencils to stickers to maintain traceability.
- Logistics & Paperwork: Review blueprint schematics, read a standard tape measure, handle full material loading/unloading, and accurately log data into the tracking database.
Skills & Requirements
- Education & Experience: Previous experience operating CNC burning equipment or specialized metal fabrication machinery is highly preferred.
- Mathematical Proficiency: Strong basic math knowledge, including geometric layout concepts and accurate measurements.
- Computer Literacy: Basic computer navigation skills to execute work order scans, interface with databases, and pull material certifications.
- Reliability: Proven track record of exceptional daily attendance, safe work practices, and a strict adherence to instructions.
