Position Summary
The Deputy Treasurer is an unclassified position within the County Treasurer’s Office and holds fiduciary responsibility for the handling of public funds. Applicants must be bondable. This position reports to the Chief Deputy Treasurer and the County Treasurer and supports the daily operations of the office.
Deputy Treasurers interact regularly with the public in person, by telephone, and via email, providing professional and courteous customer service. This role requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in all areas, including accounting functions, cash handling, balancing, filing, data entry, and cross-training across multiple office functions to ensure continuity of operations.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
• Provide professional, courteous, and effective customer service to the public in person, by phone, and via email
• Demonstrate proper telephone etiquette and clear communication skills
• Perform secretarial and administrative duties, including typing correspondence, preparing reports, and maintaining organized filing systems
• Accurately receive, count, balance, and process cash, checks, and other payments
• Operate a 10-key calculator with speed and accuracy
• Perform accounting and financial tasks, including budget support, balancing, and reconciliation of records
• Enter, review, and maintain accurate financial and taxpayer data
• Utilize computer systems proficiently, including Windows, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
• Maintain a high level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail in all work
• Effectively multitask, prioritize duties, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Work collaboratively as a team member, supporting cross-training and shared responsibilities
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with all fiduciary, ethical, and legal requirements related to public funds
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support office operations

Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Background in accounting, finance, or financial recordkeeping, including responsibility for cash handling, budgeting, and balancing
• Ability to be bonded
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
